My Motto: Everyone is a star and deserves the right to twinkle! With a true passion for all things makeup, fashion, beauty and theatrical, I strive to help a person, production, wedding, model, actor, or any being wearing makeup to be at their full potential!

I have been involved with production pretty much my entire life. Being raised in a theatre (my dad, Kip Shawger is a set designer while my mom, Carma did costume design), I quickly knew that I wanted to be involved with this industry. I began to develop and hone my craft by working with top industry professionals first in private settings and then in more structured classes learning special effects and other tricks of the trade. Upon graduation from college where I studied theatre and design along with film production, I set my sights west and moved to Los Angeles to continue my training and quickly began working with many agencies, production companies and photographers. Though I did enjoy a successful career in LA, there came a time when my husband and I wanted to start a family a little closer to our relatives. So we relocated to the East Coast and currently reside in the Upstate of South Carolina. I continue to work in all venues requiring makeup from commericals and press conferences to fashion photography and runway events and even weddings and pageants. I truly love everything about makeup from the artsy to the very necessary aspects! For the last 6 years I've been honored to serve as the Key Makeup Artist for Greenville Fashion Week as well as the Makeup and Hair Artist for The Scout Guide, Greenville.
I have been very blessed to find a good deal of success in South Carolina as a freelance makeup artist and have continued to travel as well. With this success came a very busy schedule, and work requests that I was not able to fulfill. After working so closely with many clients and vendors in the bridal industry, I decided to develop a team of artists that I could manage much like the agencies I worked with in LA. After some time, Cotton Rouge & Company was born. You can read more about the company, and view the very talented team HERE.
For anyone that knows me... they know I love a busy blessed life. So, in 2010, I decided to blend my passion of making everyday women feel amazing with themselves with my love of fashion photography and then Cotton Rouge Photo was born. The main focus of the photo studio is what I call, Personal Portrait photography. This has mostly shown itself in Boudoir Photography, though I have done a good bit of headshots and acting/modeling portfolio building. And I can't get away from fun beauty shoots focusing on more extreme makeup, because quite frankly, thats just fun stuff! This business is separate from my makeup artistry business and you absolutely can book 1 without the other. You can check out more about my photography business HERE.
And that brings us back to the makeup artistry itself. I am still very often booked only for makeup work and I do not shoot any wedding photography. The bonus of hiring a makeup artist who also does some photography is that your makeup artist truly understands exactly what the photographer needs! This is also a skill set that I have worked on with the CR&Co team. My process of makeup application varies dependant on the job at hand. I love airbrush makeup, but still can’t get away from my beloved brushes! I use high end cosmetics in combination with airbrush to achieve long lasting results. I am equipped in my kit for all ethnicities and skin types (up to and including a variety of foundation choices beyond just airbrush makeup).
I believe in flawless and precise application and listening to the direction of the client whether it’s a director, fashion photographer, stylist or bride.
I am both a studio and on location freelance artist. Our gorgeous studio for Cotton Rouge and Company is located in the heart of the Pettigru Historic District in downtown Greenville. Many times, my clients do some to the studio for single person appointments and consultations as well as makeup lessons. However, sometimes having an artist come on location is exactly what a job needs. This is especially the case for any sort of event production whether that is for a commercial project or for a wedding. For these cases, I do have everything needed to come to you.
